Shops sealed in Nirmal Market of Ludhiana

Due to the wrongful calculation of tax, 11 shops of Nirmal Market in Gill Road has been sealed. As per the information, the owner of the shops rented them to shopkeepers worth area of 3800 square yards. However, the owner didn’t pay the actual property tax and has only paid for 310 square yards which led to sealing of the area.

The civil officials said that action will be taken against erroneous payment of property tax to the civic body. The MC superintendent Vivek Verma said that they have served notices to the shop holders about the act. As per the information, Rs 9.85 lakh has to be recovered from the owner including a penalty of Rs 4.92 lakhs. Verma also told that the hearing will be done in the court on September 30 where shopkeepers have to make the payment otherwise shops will remain sealed.
