The Sahnewal police have been providing kits of raw as well as cooked food as a matter of routine to the needy at Government School, Sahnewal, and Kanganwal.

SHO Sahnewal Inderjit Singh Boparai, with the assistance of local administration, distributes kits to those who are not in a position to earn on their own, owning to the lockdown. “The ration distribution has been rationalised and special efforts are put in to keep a close check that the needy are fed and hoarders are taken to task. Earlier, the needy used to gather at the police station in huge numbers. So we planned to shift in an open place. Now we can cater to maximum number of people by ensuring social distancing. Our priority at this time of the crisis is to ensure that no one sleeps without food,” expressed the SHO of Sahnewal Inderjit Singh Boparai.

“A total of approximately 1,000 kits of raw material and 12,000 kits of cooked food have been supplied by the department in the sub-division of Sahnewal, every day. No one in our sub- division can complain about lack of proper food or ration. Earlier we visited their vehras to supply them the material but as the numbers began to rise and handling became cumbersome, we informed them about the specific spots which they visit and collect their ration from. The supply shall continue till the situation normalises and things turn for the better,” the SHO added.
