Rs 4 crore worth Heroin seized from an auto driver in Ludhiana

The Special Task Force of Ludhiana arrested an auto driver cum smuggler with 780g of Heroin at Beantpura area on Tuesday. Identified as Prem Masih (50) is an autorickshaw driver against whom 20 cases of drug smuggling, liquor and theft are already going on. The Police caught him red-handed at Beantpura at the checkpoint where they confiscated 780g heroin which was later on checked at the electric machine.

The police informed that heroin cost around Rs 3.90 crore in the international market. STF Incharge Harbans Singh informed that the accused Masih is a drug addict who needs a heavy dosage every day. In order to satisfy his hunger, he usually smuggles and executes thefts in Ludhiana. He has been caught several times due to drug smuggling and his illegal Liquor business. Masih also travelled from Ludhiana to Delhi in his three-wheeler to collect his dosage.

As per the statement, it was found that the accused once travelled with his clients to Delhi disguising them as passengers for the sake of collecting Heroin from peddlers in Delhi. In his statement, Masih admitted that he has contacts in Ludhiana as well as Delhi. The police assured that they are tracing the peddlers and smugglers in order to eradicate drug problem from Punjab.
