Punjab government removes 5 officials for Rs 2.59 crore MGNREGA scam



In relation to making fake payments and other frauds, Punjab rural development and panchayat minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa ordered dismissal of 5 employees from Faridkot, Muktsar Sahib and Ferozepur.  The employees were involved in the Rs 2.59-crore MGNREGA fraud case. The employees dismissed are assistant project directors Yadvinder Singh, Harpreet Singh, Rajnish Sharma and Dalip Kumar, and Meena Sharma and Charanjit Singh. The employees had shown a fake payment amount for buying material.

A police case was filed against Yadvinder who had resigned recently. Whereas, dismissal orders were given for the others.

Talking about the incident, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that such practices are strictly condemned and the authorities shall be taking strict actions against those found guilty of frauds.
