Ludhiana’s Wrestler brings gold for the city

Hailing from a farmer’s family, Sandeep Singh (20) has made Ludhiana proud by winning gold in the senior national wrestling championship held in Jalandhar. Sandeep fought against Jatinder Singh of railways under the 79 Kg category freestyle section and bagged gold for himself.

The wrestler has also secured a position in the India team camp for the upcoming senior Asian wrestling championship, which is going to be held in January. Excited Sandeep shared his happiness saying: “I am extremely happy with my performance as I have secured my first gold medal in the senior wrestling championship matches where the competitors were more powerful and skilled. I have been working hard to secure the place in the Indian team camp for the upcoming Asian wrestling championship matches.”

Sandeep said that he got the motivation for wrestling from his grandparents and he is thankful to his family who supported him at every step. Aiming to become an international wrestling champion, Sandeep is practicing with Sukhminder Singh, his guide, at the Miri Piri Fight Club since 2012.
