Kashmiri residents: Despite no telecom service we are paying hefty bills

Post the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, the state has been in a shaky state. The life of Kashmiris has been affected and its been 47 days people are living in a curfew-like situation. Kashmir has been facing communication blackouts from the outside world due to blockage of networks and internet services. However, one of the residents informed that despite blackout in the state, they are paying hefty bills to telecom companies. She revealed that all the mobile phones and internet services are barred from August 5th but still she paid Rs 779 to Airtel for the internet. She questioned the company about what they have been charged for but she didn’t get any response.

Another resident shared that he paid Rs 470 to BSNL for his mobile connection which is of no use since one and a half month. Residents also revealed that private schools in the city and some other towns in the Valley are charging fees for the months of August, September and October. Not only this, they are taking money for transportation.
