India coronavirus count jumps by 6,935 in past 24 hours

India’s official Covid-19 count touched 1,45,380 today, data released by Health ministry showed.

At 8 pm, the number of the dead was 4,167, and of the cured/discharged was 60,491.

During the past 24 hours, the country saw more than 6,000 new cases for the fourth day on run. Maharashtra continued to top the state-wise list, with 52,667 total cases and 1,695 deaths.

Yesterday, Nagaland became India’s 34th state/Union territory to report Covid cases, after a few returnees from other states tested positive for the virus.

28 states/UTs reported cases during the past 24 hours, compared to 26 the previous day. So far, only the UTs of Lakshadweep and Daman & Diu have reported no cases and remain free of coronavirus.

In a good news of sorts, the number of Indians who have recovered from the virus has now crossed 60,000. This amounts to a recovery rate of 42.6%.
