Hit and run case- Ludhiana’s vendor killed in an accident

On friday, an accident between a truck and mini-van took place near Ludhiana-Chandigarh
highway which yet again took a life. According to the information, mini-van carrying groceries
and 14 vendors collided in a heavy truck from behind which killed a man and injured others.

Deceased is identified as Sri Ram, a resident of Keerti Nagar, others injured are Chandan,
Rajapati, Mohan and Kanhaiya. The vendors were going to old vegetable market and were
passing through Vardhman Chowk where the accident took place. The onlookers immediately
rushed the victims to a nearby hospital in Sherpur where Sri Ram was declared dead. However,
the truck driver fled on the spot leaving his ride behind.

Inspector Pragat Singh (SHO) of Moti Nagar police station, said the pick-up van had a Himachal
Pradesh registration number. They had approached its owner to identify the driver, who was
booked under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian
Penal Code.
