‘Swachhta Hi Sewa Hai’ keeping the theme in mind Ludhiana celebrated Bapu’s birthday

Today, on 2nd October 2019, various schools and colleges celebrated Gandhi Jayanti to reminisce Mahatma Gandhi and his contribution to India. The theme for this Gandhi Jayanti is “Swachhta Hi Sewa Hai” keeping same in mind famous schools and colleges organised seminars and plays.

Arya College, Ludhiana organised a series of events including exhibition, poster-presentation, and poem recitation competition at Gandhian Study Centre of the college. Principal Savita Uppal acknowledged the programme prepared by the students to teach the youth highlighting the role national leaders played in gaining independence for India. Devki Devi Jain Memorial College organised an event “Say No To Plastic” where poster making and slogan writing competitions were held. The Government College of Science Education and Research, Jagraon celebrated the day with a seminar held on Gandhian Philosophy.

Schools like Police DAV, Green Land School, MGM Public School, Greenland School Dugri, GMT Public School Jalandhar Bypass etc. also celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with full fervour and gusto. Students came dressed up as freedom fighters, paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, gave speech on the teachings of Bapu and also organised a cleanliness drive.

At BVM Kitchlu Nagar, a week-long celebration is going on where Swachhta initiative has been taken. Students cleaned the premises and nearby areas under the initiative and presented a role model of Modern India. Dance performances, Nukkad Natak and Plays were also performed based on Gandhian Teachings at other schools as well.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Amitabh Bachchan; Bollywood congratulates the ‘shehanshah’

The 76-year-old star will now be conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year much to the excitement of his fans and well-wishers. As soon as the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar made the announcement, the entire industry started congratulating the veteran actor.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award is an honourary film award that memorialises late Dadasaheb Phalke, a producer and screenwriter with 95 films and several short films to his credit. Amitabh Bachchan is the megastar of Bollywood since two generations and for his contribution to the cinema he will be receiving the award. Satinder Sartaaj to perform at Punjab Cultural Society’s event on 5th October

Famous Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaaj will be performing in the city on 5th October. The ‘Sai’ fame singer will perform at an event being organised by Punjab Cultural Society. 

In addition to Sartaaj’s performance, the society has kept an online singing competition where the participants shall be judged on the basis of their recorded-uploading on the society’s Facebook page.
