Elderly man jumps in front of train; Ends his life

A 50-year-old man committed suicide on Thursday by jumping in front of the train near Dhandari Kalan railway station. The incident took place early in the morning when an elderly man jumped in front of Amritsar bound superfast train and ended his life. Investigation officer Manjit Singh, assistant sub-inspector at the government railway police, Ludhiana, said that they received information in the wee hours of the day after the victim committed suicide. He added: “It is difficult to identify the deceased as the belongings from his pocket are not enough.” Post preliminary investigation, the police is putting their efforts to identify the deceased and send his mortal remains to his family.
