Owing to the festival season which is ready to set the year in a month, the railway authorities have decided to launch a 15-day cleanliness and sanitation drive in Ludhiana. Being the biggest railway station in North India, Ludhiana station receives a footfall of 80,000 passengers every day which multiplies during the festive season. Considering the heavy rush, the officials of the sanitation department has decided to curb the use of tobacco products inside the station and apply penalties to those violating the rules.

During the intensive cleanliness drive, the passengers will be taught to keep the surroundings clean and use bins to throw their items. If anybody found littering the railway station then they will be heavily penalised. The railway authorities said that “This 15-day drive is to make sure our passengers do not face inconvenience.”
