5 more encroachers booked in Ludhiana; To lose their licenses and passports

Ludhiana Police is conducting a drive against encroachment in which they had already booked more than 30 shopkeepers. As per the information, another 5 encroachers have been booked by the police and a case under Section 283 (obstruction in a public way) of IPC has been lodged.

According to the information, the commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said that violators arms license and passport will also be cancelled as a punishment. He said: “We are collecting data on how many offender shopkeepers have these documents. The process will be completed in five to seven days. We will then initiate steps to get those cancelled. Police will continue to register cases against encroachers till roads are rid of the menace. Even if some traders don’t have a passport, many must be having arms licences as owning a weapon is a craze among them.”
