10-year-old Covid-19 suspect lost her life in Ludhiana because she was denied entry in the hospital

In an adverse incident, a 10-year-old girl was denied entry in a private hospital of Ludhiana because she was suspected of Coronavirus. As per the information, the girl died in the Civil Hospital on Friday, however, her parents revealed that they first took her to a private hospital which was 6km away from their home.

The doctor in charge of the emergency ward said: “When the girl’s father rushed her there we told him that we have dedicated one bed for treatment of covid-19. This bed was occupied, so we referred the girl to the civil hospital.” However, the father said that they took the deceased to the hospital as she was having Covid-19 symptoms. He said: “The on duty-doctor told us that they did not have a paediatric ventilator. On seeing the symptoms of my daughter, the staff and the doctors did not even let us enter the emergency and maintained distance.”

Ludhiana civil surgeon said that the matter of refusal of admission by the private hospital was being looked into. “We tried to resuscitate the girl, but couldn’t save her,” he added. Currently, the reports of the girl are awaited and the family is told to isolate themselves. The girl had no travel history and she didn’t even meet many people except her society.
